TAG Heuer unveils Super Mario-themed limited edition of its Wear OS smartwatch
Swiss luxury watch maker TAG Heuer has announced a Super Mario limited edition version of its Wear OS-powered smartwatch, the TAG Heuer Connected. The watch will be available in a couple of days on July 15.
Only 2,000 units will be sold worldwide and they probably wonât be available for long. Plus, we should note that even the vanilla Connected watch starts at $1,800, this one will sell for $2,150 (before tax).
The watch has some familiar Mario symbols engraved into its bezel: a Super Mushroom at 3 oâclock, a pipe at 6 oâclock, a Super Star at 9 oâclock and, finally, the flagpole at 12 oâclock. These are meant to track your daily step goal and play matching animation when you hit each sub-goal.
The watch exterior is mostly black and red with brushed metal on the side. Thereâs the Mario M engraved into the crown on the side. And, of course, there are several Mario-themed watch faces pre-loaded:
The watch comes in a snazzy box with two wrist bands. The first is made out of black leather on red rubber, the second is a sporty version made of red rubber. Both have an M on the buckle.
Since the Super Mario limited edition is based on the TAG Heuer Connected, it has the same features. It runs Wear OS, it has a steel case that is water resistant up to 50m, the 1.39â OLED screen (454 x 454 px) is covered with Sapphire glass, thereâs an on-board GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou receiver, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. Google Pay is supported.
