Oppo A55 5G arrives with Dimensity 700, 5,000mAh battery
Oppo has announced another affordable smartphone in its homeland. It is called Oppo A55 5G and comes with a Mediatek Dimensity 700 chipset and a big battery.
The Dimensity 700 chipset has its powerful Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.2 GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 units clocked at 2GHz. The chip is accompanied by 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage and Oppo provided the A55 5G with a microSD slot for further expansion.
The front is occupied by a 6.5â LCD that has rather unimpressive HD+ resolution and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The panel has a waterdrop notch with a 8MP f/2.0 camera nested inside.
There are three more cameras on the back - main 13MP with an f/2.2 lens and two 2MP f/2.4 auxiliary shooters - one for extra depth of portrait shots, the other for close-ups. Due to the chipset's limitations, Oppo A55 5G records videos up to 1080p at 30fps, while slow-mo clips are capped at 720p.
The phone has big 5,000mAh battery that might not have any fast charging (just 5V/2A, which is 10W), but at least there is a USB-C port on the bottom, next to the 3.5mm audio jack. The fingerprint scanner is on the side, inside the power key.
The phone is already up for sale at Oppoâs own distribution channels across China, including major online retailers like Tmall and Suning. It costsCNY1,599, which is about $245/â¬200.
