Mediatek Dimensity 9400 chipset beats Apple A18 Pro in GPU benchmark
Mediatek is expected to release the Dimensity 9400 chipset next month. It will have the Immortalis-G925 graphics unit by Arm, which the Taiwanese company claims will be âthe highest performing, most efficient GPU to date.â
Recent benchmarks confirmed this might be true regarding raw power. The GPU scored 134 fps in the GFX Aztec 1440p off-screen Vulkan benchmark, which is much higher than the 72 fps on the Apple A18 Pro and the 95 fps on last year's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The Aztec test is part of the GFXBench suite, designed to simulate an intensive 3D game-like environment and push the graphics hardware to the limits, especially with Vulkan, one of the high-performance graphics APIs.
The â1440pâ part means the test has been running on the QHD resolution setting, which is a higher level of detail. The off-screen test means the graphics unit is tested only for its raw performance without being actually affected by the resolution.
The test clearly showcases the full potential of the Dimensity 9400 with Immortalis-G925, but in the end, a chipset (and its components) are only as good as the phone manufacturer, so we have to wait and see which companies will opt for the Mediatek chipset for their 2025 flagships.
