HMD brings the Nokia 4.2 to the US market for less than $200
Starting Tuesday April 30, Nokia is launching its pre-sale of the Nokia 4.2 in the US where customers can pre-order the handset from Best Buy and Amazon on starting now (B&H Photo has it as well). These devices will begin to ship on May 14 and you can expect to find the Nokia 4.2 in select Best Buy locations starting on June 9 in two colors: Pink Sand, and Black.
The Nokia 4.2 starts at $189 and offers many features for the cost. For under $200, this phone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a compact 5.71-inch HD+ (720p) full-screen display with selfie camera notch, Android One for very quick updates, and a dedicated Google Assistant key. We love that there’s even NFC support for mobile payments.
“At HMD Global, we believe that everybody should have access to the latest in mobile technologies regardless of their budget,” says Maurizio Angelone, Vice President of HMD Americas. “With cutting-edge experiences, incredible craftsmanship, AI innovations with a dedicated Google Assistant button, dual-rear cameras, pure Android, and much more, Nokia 4.2 brings everything you would expect from the top-line smartphone for a fraction of the price.”
A cool feature of the Nokia 4.2 is the integrated notification LED right in the power key. This way you can see notifications no matter if the phone is screen-up or screen-down. There’s also a dual-camera at the back comprising of a 13MP main camera and a secondary 2MP depth sensor.
Although the Nokia 4.2 did launch globally with a 2GB+16GB variant, the 3GB+32GB model is the standard in the US. This model also features a power-efficient Snapdragon 439 octa-core SoC and the 3,000 mAh battery can be charged via the microUSB port. The variant offered in the US is a DualSIM unlocked version compatible with GSM networks.
