The next OnePlus flagship could arrive earlier than expected, will bring Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

OnePlus released a phone with the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 – the OnePlus 10T/OnePlus Ace Pro – and according to some leaksters that was to be its last flagship for a while. Focus seems to have shifted to preparing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powered phone, based on a report by Digital Chat Station.

The new model will allegedly be unveiled before the end of the year. Qualcomm has scheduled its annual Snapdragon Summit for mid-November and should be the debut of the Gen 2 series. As usual, Xiaomi is expected to be among the first to launch a phone with the new top chip from Qualcomm, possibly as early as the same month.

OnePlus will be among the first too, though by the end of the year could mean December. Either way, this could prove earlier rumors wrong, which claimed that the company won’t release another flagship this year. Well, it depends on the exact announcement and sales timing. The OnePlus 10 Pro was released in China in January, so the 11 Pro might be a couple of weeks late to make it into 2022.

Little else is known about the upcoming OnePlus flagship and what direction the company will take with the new release.
