Samsung Galaxy Wide5 unveiled with a Dimensity 700 and 64MP camera
The Samsung Galaxy Wide5 was just unveiled in South Korea for carrier SK Telecom. From what we’ve seen in Bluetooth certifications, this model will be variously known as the Galaxy F42 5G, Galaxy Buddy or Galaxy Wide5 in different countries, so you can read on even if you are not an SK subscriber (though these other variants aren’t official yet).
As we’ve suspected, this phone is related to the Galaxy A22 5G, but it is not a 1-to-1 copy. It is still powered by the Dimensity 700, which is pretty telling – this 7 nm chip has been used by Samsung only for the A22 5G. It has two Cortex-A76 cores, a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and a 2.77 Gbps 5G modem (sub-6), plus Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 support.

And while the chipset supports up to 90 Hz refresh rate at 1080p+ resolution, a skill it showed off in the A22 5G, this is not utilized here. The LCD still has a 6.6” diagonal with 1080p+ resolution and a V-shaped notch, but there’s no mention of a high refresh rate.
On the plus side, the camera is upgraded. The main sensor now has 64 MP resolution (up from 48 MP). The ultra wide-angle (115°) camera still uses a low-res 5 MP sensor, though, and there’s the 2 MP depth sensor too. The single selfie camera remains unchanged at 8 MP.
The phone is equipped with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage, plus it has a microSD slot that supports cards up to 1 TB. As the SK Telecom website helpfully notes, “RAM capacity may vary by country”.
Finally, the phone brings the same 5,000 mAh battery, which features 15W fast charging support. The phone comes in Black, White and Blue.
The Samsung Galaxy Wide5 (SM-E426S) can be bought from SK at KRW 450,000 ($385/€325). Of course, if you are a subscriber, you will probably get it with a plan. Plus, this price seems way too high – the A22 5G launched at €230 (for the 4/64 GB model) and can be found for less now.
