Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G in for review
Xiaomi today announced its Redmi Note 13 series of smartphones in India, and we have the flagship Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G in for review.
The first thing we noticed about this device is Xiaomi's new packaging. The company has moved to all-red packaging for its Redmi devices and all future devices will share the same look going forward.
Inside the packaging, we have the usual affair for the Indian market, which includes the phone, a charger, a cable, and a case. The case has transitioned from a clear design to an all-black silicone, which should alleviate concerns about the clear plastic yellowing with time. The case does leave a rather large gaping hole at the top for aesthetic reasons, which doesn't make this the most durable option for your phone.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G has a 6.67-inch, 2712 x 1220 resolution curved AMOLED display. It is capable of 120Hz refresh rate with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display is capable of 100% DCI-P3 coverage with 500 nits of standard brightness and 1800 nits of peak brightness. The phone also gets Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support.
The phone has a glass back design with a plastic frame. Xiaomi has included IP68 dust and water resistance, making it far more durable even in rough conditions than its predecessor.
Inside, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra, which seems to be a variant of the MediaTek 7200 for this device. It's an octa-core chip with 2x Cortex-A715 cores and 6x Cortex-A510 cores and is based on the newest 4nm fabrication process. You also get LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage in 8+256GB, 12+256GB, and 12+512GB variants.
The phone has a trio of cameras on the back, consisting of a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor capable of shooting in 12.5MP and native 200MP with 2x and 4x lossless digital zoom using a center crop on the sensor. The phone also has an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro. On the front is a 16MP fixed-focus camera.
The phone comes with MIUI 14.0.1 and Android 13 out of the box but will be among the first Xiaomi devices to get Android 14 and HyperOS update this year.
Finally, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is powered by a 5000mAh battery and the phone supports 120W charging. As we saw earlier, the packaging includes the 120W charger, which can charge the phone from 0-100% in just 19 minutes.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is priced at INR 31,999 for the 8+256GB version, INR 33,999 for the 12+256GB version, and INR 35,999 for the 12+512GB version. It will be available in three colors, Fusion Black, Fusion Purple, and the Fusion White pictured here.
Check back next week for a more detailed hands-on.
