vivo Y53s 5G launches with Snapdragon 480 and 90 Hz screen
The vivo Y53 was released in March 2017, and today the company just launched the Y53s 5G on the Chinese market. We're a bit baffled by the naming choice here, this definitely can't in any way be a straight-up successor of a phone from four years ago, so then why not use some other numbers?
Alas, it is what it is. Oh, just what is it, you ask? Most likely, a direct successor to the Y52s from last year in fact.
The vivo Y53s 5G is a new smartphone that has a 6.58-inch 90 Hz FHD+ IPS LCD touchscreen, the Snapdragon 480 5G chipset at the helm, aided by 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of built-in storage, and a dual rear camera setup with a 64 MP main snapper and a macro lens that supports focusing at 4cm.
On the front you get an 8 MP selfie shooter. The handset measures 163.95 x 75.3 x 8.5 mm and weighs 189g. The fingerprint sensor is side-mounted and embedded in the power button. Keeping the lights on is a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging. The Y53s 5G runs OriginOS 1.0 based on Android 11.
It's priced at CNY 1,799 (approximately $281 or â¬230) with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while if you need double the internal space you'll have to pay CNY 1,999 ($312 or â¬256). The phone is already up for pre-order in China and will become available on June 11.
