The Redmi Note 12R might become the first phone with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2

Xiaomi quietly launched the Redmi Note 12R Pro back in April, a CNY 1,800 ($250/€230/?20,500) phone with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. But there was no vanilla model – until now. The Redmi Note 12R (23076RA4BC) just appeared on the China Telecom website and, interestingly, has a better chipset.

It hasn’t been confirmed, but the phone’s SM4450 chip is expected to be branded “Snapdragon 4 Gen 2” when it is unveiled by Qualcomm. It is allegedly fabbed on a 4nm Samsung node (instead of 6nm TSMC for the 4 Gen 1). The phone can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage and there is a microSD slot on board.

The carrier also listed some other key details. The 12R is equipped with a large 6.79” FHD+ display (so it will stand a head taller than the 12R Pro and its 6.67” display). The camera is fairly basic with a 50MP main module and a 2MP helper (the Pro isn’t much better in this regard).

Additional details include the size and weight – 168.6 x 76.3 x 8.17mm and 199g. This is with a 5,000mAh battery on board (the charging speed is TBA). Besides the USB-C port, the phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
