The Redmi Note 12R might become the first phone with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2
Xiaomi quietly launched the Redmi Note 12R Pro back in April, a CNY 1,800 ($250/â¬230/?20,500) phone with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. But there was no vanilla model â until now. The Redmi Note 12R (23076RA4BC) just appeared on the China Telecom website and, interestingly, has a better chipset.
It hasnât been confirmed, but the phoneâs SM4450 chip is expected to be branded âSnapdragon 4 Gen 2â when it is unveiled by Qualcomm. It is allegedly fabbed on a 4nm Samsung node (instead of 6nm TSMC for the 4 Gen 1). The phone can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage and there is a microSD slot on board.
The carrier also listed some other key details. The 12R is equipped with a large 6.79â FHD+ display (so it will stand a head taller than the 12R Pro and its 6.67â display). The camera is fairly basic with a 50MP main module and a 2MP helper (the Pro isnât much better in this regard).
Additional details include the size and weight â 168.6 x 76.3 x 8.17mm and 199g. This is with a 5,000mAh battery on board (the charging speed is TBA). Besides the USB-C port, the phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
According to China Telecom, the Redmi Note 12R will launch in China on June 30, which could make it the first device to use the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. Here are the prices in China:
RAM/storage | Price | in USD (converted) |
4/128GB | CNY 1,100 | $153 |
6/128GB | CNY 1,200 | $167 |
8/128GB | CNY 1,600 | $223 |
8/256GB | CNY 1,800 | $250 |
The phone will be available in three colorways â Midnight Black, Sky Fantasy and Time Blue â the latter you can see in the images shared by the carrier.
