Tecno Spark 30 Pro is launched, gets Transformers makeover
Tecno silently unveiled the Spark 30, and today, we received a press release about the official launch of the series. The vanilla smartphone is getting a bigger brother â Spark 30 Pro and both of them come with a custom Transformers edition.
The Pro phone has 4.5G (that's LTE Advanced) connectivity and some of Tecno's latest AI features embedded in the software.
The Spark 30 Pro's screen is a 6.78" AMOLED with FullHD+ resolution, up to 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,700 nits peak brightness. The flat panel has a fingerprint scanner underneath and a 13 MP selfie camera placed under a punch hole.
Speaking of cameras, there are two on the back - the main one is 108 MP, and the other is called "AI Camera," likely a depth sensor that assists with background blur in portrait photos.
Tecno equipped the phone with a Helio G100 chipset by Mediatek, which is just a notch above Helio G99 and is the most powerful LTE-only platform currently on the market.
The phone is coupled with 8 GB RAM, which the company advertises as 16 GB since it can be expanded; storage is either 128 GB or 256 GB.
The company was really proud of the development of its AI capabilities, and some of them made it to this no-frills Spark 30 Pro with Android 14 and HIOS on top. It has AIGC Imaging, which is a suite with AI portraits, an eraser, and cut-out features.
There is a voice assistant powered by Google Gemini, and also AI Wallpaper and AI Artboard, which can slightly customize the software's looks, tailored to the user's preference.
The phone is just 7.4 mm thin and comes with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports up to 33W fast charging. Tecno tested the phone and said it can withstand 25,000 drops from 10 cm, 600 tumbles, and 2,000 compressions. The USB-C life is certified at 20,000 plugs and the volume button at 500,000 times.
Spark 30 Pro also has dual stereo speakers, Dolby Hi-Res Audio, FM Radio, NFC, and an infrared port on top for controlling home appliances.
The Transformers edition of the Spark 30 and Spark 30 Pro have two different paint jobs. Tecno gave the Spark 30 a black and yellow Bumblebee-inspired look, while the Spark 30 Pro comes in Blue, Red, and Silver, which are the colors of Optimus Prime.
Tecno stated in a press release that its partnership with Hasbro, the company that holds the rights for Transformers, aims to add an additional "layer of excitement for energetic youth." The phone will come with exclusive branded merchandise and gift sets.
The Tecno Spark 30 Pro also comes in Obsidian Edge (Black) and Arctic Glow (White). Pricing and availability of the phone and its custom variants are yet to be unveiled.
