Samsung brings back the Repair Bus in Germany: smartphone repair comes to you

A few years ago Samsung ran a “Repair Bus” service in Germany, essentially, a repair center on wheels. Now the company is bringing it back with plans for a near country-wide expansion.

To start, this month the service will cover the cities where the Euro Football Championship games are held: Berlin, Munich, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Cologne. By the end of this year, the service will expand to cover the 15 largest cities in Germany (including Hannover, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Dortmund, Essen, Bremen, Dresden, Nuremberg and Duisburg).

And that is just the start, by the end of 2025, the Samsung Repair Bus will reach all German cities with over 20,000 citizens.

The service is pretty simple. You order a visit from this page where you can pick a convenient time and address. The bus arrives and performs necessary repairs with original Samsung parts. This includes screen and battery replacements, but the team can also help people with software updates and data backups, great for the less techy individuals.

If the repair is covered under warranty, you will just have to pay a €20 Premium Service fee. Otherwise, it’s the fee plus the cost of the repair. Note that the service covers not just smartphones, but also tablets. And that in some cases a repair is not possible. But if the device can be repaired, the process usually takes an hour.

What do you think? Is this mobile service a good idea or do you prefer to visit repair centers in person? Do you want to see the Samsung Repair Bus in other countries too?
