S Pen in Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to lose Bluetooth functionality
Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy S25 series in two weeks. Among the most anticipated models is the Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring rounded corners and a built-in S Pen. However, recent information suggests the stylus may forfeit a couple of its unique features.
Leakster Ishan Agarwal, speaking with retail insiders, revealed that Samsung will drop Bluetooth functionality from the S Pen, which means features such as gestures and remote control will no longer be available.
Currently, a single press on the S Pen takes a photo; a double press switches between the front and back cameras, and swiping gestures change photo modes.
The feature collection is named Air Actions, which lets you wave the stylus like a magic wand to perform tasks such as Back, Home, Recent, and Smart Select. This functionality is accessible on all flagship tablets from the Tab S7 to the Tab S10, the Note series, the Galaxy Z Fold6, and all Galaxy S flagships released from 2021 onward.
Eliminating remote control features seems like a step back, potentially discouraging some Samsung Galaxy Ultra users from upgrading to the S25 series.
Naturally, Samsung has more data on how frequently these features are used. We might also see the Korean company justify this move by pointing to the Galaxy S25 Ultra's new design with rounded corners, which accommodates a slightly smaller stylus that fits into the device.
