Get ready for a range of new Alcatel phones

2025-04-01

It turns out TCL was holding onto the Alcatel brand this whole time - for phones, we mean. The Chinese company licensed the brand from Nokia, and it"s now almost ready to relaunch it.

There will be a whole range of Alcatel smartphones launching in India soon, in fact they will be part of the "Make in India" initiative. The brand will also establish a nationwide service network, and the product line will incorporate some unnamed patented innovations.

In terms of design, expect the devices to be "influenced by French aesthetics", whatever that means. Alcatel will bet on smartphones featuring a stylus, and wants to position itself to offer premium features at good prices. The smartphones will combine "design, functionality, and user experience".

There are unfortunately no other details at this point, but here"s what two officials from the brand have to say.

First, Atul Vivek, Chief Business Officer:

At Alcatel, our vision for India is to democratize innovation by making premium features accessible to a broader audience. Our devices seamlessly merge with style and performance, catering to tech enthusiasts, urban aspirants, fashion-conscious consumers, and digital nomads alike. We believe that technology should not only be powerful but also reflect the latest trends, and we are excited to introduce products that embody this philosophy in the Indian market.

And finally, let"s hear from Ansh Rathi, Chief Operating Officer:

As we expand our presence in India, from day 1 we have embraced the ‘Made in India’ initiative by focusing on local manufacturing. By producing our devices within the country, we aim to enhance supply chain efficiency, ensure superior quality, and contribute to India’s growing technology ecosystem. This strategic move not only strengthens our commitment to the Indian market but also reinforces our mission to make cutting-edge technology more accessible and affordable for consumers.
