Rugged Motorola Defy 2021 has full specs leaked alongside a bunch of images
It's been a while since we've seen a ruggedized smartphone from Motorola, but the company is apparently looking to revive its Defy brand this year, with a device aptly named the Motorola Defy 2021, which has now leaked in full, with specs and images, courtesy of Evan Blass, aka @evleaks.
This phone will have IP68 dust and water resistance, withstanding up to 1.5m of water depth for up to 35 minutes. It's also "drop-proof", able to survive falling from up to 1.8m onto steel. It sports a structurally reinforced PCB as well as a lanyard that's somehow supposed to reduce drops.
Additionally, the Defy 2021 complies with the military spec 810H, resisting vibration, humidity, salt mist, and thermal shocks, handling high temperature differences between -30°C and 75°C for up to 30 minutes. Oh, and it's washable with soaps and disinfectants.
All the rugged things out of the way, let's now turn to the normal phone specs. The Defy 2021 has a 6.5" 720x1600 touchscreen with Gorilla Glass Victus on top, and it's recessed into the frame by 0.5mm to add more drop protection.
At the helm sits Qualcomm's Snapdragon 662 chipset, aided by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. On the rear there's a triple camera system with a 48 MP main shooter, and a couple of decorative ones (2 MP macro, 2 MP depth), while selfies are handled by an 8 MP snapper on the front.
The Motorola Defy 2021 has a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 20W charging. It runs Android 10 with a promised upgrade to Android 11, and that's probably the most disappointing thing about it, in mid-2021. The handset measures 169.8 x 78.2 x 10.9 mm and weighs 232g and will be available in black and Forged Green.
