Oppo demoes under-display front camera
Just as phones are moving past the notch and translating to pop-up cameras and punch hole solutions, Oppo is already looking one step ahead in the race to an all screen phone. Today, the companys VP Brian Shen shared a video of a working prototype device with a selfie camera built under the screen. Soon after Oppos official Twitter account gave us another look at this new approach to selfie camera placement and it looks every bit as intriguing.
From the short 15 second video, we can see the user launching the camera app and taking some sample shots. The new sensor is located in the upper middle portion of the screen and flashes for a second similar to how Samsungs S10 phones do when switching to the front camera.
While we dont have much more info about the device or when it might release, the companys VP commented that the optical quality of such sensors is still inferior to regular front-facing cameras and that it will take some time to perfect the process.
