OnePlus 5 name and model number confirmed by Chinese certification
OnePlus' next smartphone may have just got its name confirmed. A OnePlus device with the model number A5000 has been spotted in the database of Chinas Radio Regulation Authority. Since the OnePlus 3 had the model number A3000 and the 3T was A3010, it then stands to reason that the next handset in the line will be OnePlus 5.
Thus the rumors about the company skipping the number "4" from its lineup due to tetraphobia have pretty much been confirmed. The regulatory listing doesn't reveal anything about the phone's most important specs, however.
That said, if we go by past rumors the OnePlus 5 will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset, aided by 6 or 8GB of RAM. It should come with a 5.5-inch QHD touchscreen with small bezels, up to 256GB of storage, and a 3,000 mAh battery, all packed into a 7mm thin frame. The main camera could be a 23MP unit, while the display may be of the dual-curved variety. Since OnePlus will probably unveil the phone during the summer, we expect to see more leaks about it soon.
