OnePlus 10 Pro snaps in half in bend test

The OnePlus 10 Pro was unveiled for the Chinese market back in January, and earlier today it got a new Panda White version. The phone is yet to come to any markets outside of China, but hopefully that will happen soon.

In the meantime, YouTuber Zack from JerryRigEverything has decided to put the OnePlus 10 Pro through his signature "durability test", which includes some screen scratching and burning as well as a bend test.

The handset starts off well with the Gorilla Glass Victus on top of its display scratching at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, with deeper grooves at level 7. Par for the course, then. The sides of the phone are confirmed to be made from aluminum, as are the buttons. Even if there's no official IP rating, the SIM card slot has a water-protective gasket. The burn test goes as expected too, with the AMOLED screen lasting for about 40 seconds until it's toasted by a direct flame from a lighter and then never recovers.

But then, calamity strikes. Not only does the OnePlus 10 Pro fail the bend test, it does so very badly. Make sure you watch the video until the end to see it snap in half. The back cracks first, when the phone is bent from the front, and then when bent from the back... it just snaps and dies. That hasn't happened very often during the past few years, and while this test is extreme - we wouldn't want you to buy a OnePlus 10 Pro and then forget it in your back pocket, that's for sure.
