Nio's phone appears on AnTuTu with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC

Nio, the Chinese EV car manufacturer, announced that it's working on a smartphone last year and rumors suggested it will feature a flagship chip and 100W fast charging. Now a benchmark scorecard confirms the premium SoC and suggest the phone itself is just around the corner.

Nio's upcoming phone stopped by AnTuTu giving Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip a chance to flex its computational muscle. The chip was paired with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage in the tested device.

Interestingly enough, the handset's performance is below the average SD 8 Gen 2 in our database, which could mean that Nio still has some work to do on the software side. On the other hand, the phone already obtained a Chinese MIIT license, so a release can't be far away.

A rumor from earlier this year suggested that the car manufacturer is readying a smartwatch to go with the phone and it will be a cool addition to the ecosystem if it can unlock your Nio car as well. Previously Oppo, vivo and OnePlus phones were enabled to work as car keys.
