Motorola Moto G42 renders and certifications surface
A new Motorola phone is on the horizon – model number XT2233-2, also known under the ‘Hawaii+’ code name. This will arrive on the market as the Motorola Moto G42, a sequel to the G41 from last year and a cheaper alternative to the G52.
Actually, the full code name of this device is ‘HawaiiPlusOLED22’. Having an OLED display is not surprising, though, given that both the Moto G41 and G52 have one as well. Unfortunately, that’s almost everything we know about the phone specs-wise.

One the plus side, there are leaked images that we can look at, thanks to leakster Abhishek Yadav. Nothing unexpected here, the design fits with the rest of Motorola’s 2022 offerings.

The Moto G42 has already secured quite a few certifications that offer a glimpse of what’s to come. Per the FCC, this will be a 4G-only phone, which limits the possible chipsets inside to nothing too advanced (e.g. the G52 runs on a Snapdragon 680, the old G41 had a Helio G85). If you want 5G, you might have to wait for the Moto G62, which is also incoming.
The Moto G42 has already been certified by the FCC: a dual-SIM 4G phone
This particular model has two SIM slots along with NFC support and will launch with Android 12. Aside from the FCC, it was also certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance and the EEC.
HawaiiPlusOLED22 code name mentioned on Lenovo.comPrevious leaks of Motorola’s 2022 line-up mentioned four names, which will most likely be part of the Edge series – Frontier (Edge 30 Ultra), Dubai (Edge 30), Dubai+ and Miami (Edge 30 Lite) – so there’s more to come from the company soon. How soon is unclear, however.
