Leakster: OnePlus Buds Z2 will have ANC, improved battery life

OnePlus is expected to unveil the sequel to the Buds Z next month. We saw OnePlus Buds Z2 renders a couple of weeks ago, now leakster Max J. offers some details on what is on the inside in his usual creative way. The image below contains some salient specs.

And here’s what all this means. The major upgrade seems to be Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) support, which was absent from the original Z buds. This also comes with a newer Bluetooth version (5.2, up from 5.0) and Dolby Atmos will be making a comeback.

OnePlus also managed to improve battery life, the buds will last 7 hours on their own (up from 5 hours) and the total listening time including the charging case will be 38 hours (nearly double the 20 hours of the original Z). A quick 10 minute popup will get you 5 hours of listening time.

As before the buds will be IP55 rated for dust and water resistance, so they should survive the sweatiest, rainiest workouts. They will be available in the standard Black and White colors.

OnePlus Buds Z2 (unofficial renders)

The original Buds Z launched at $50/€60/?3,000, you can read our review for how they perform. Unless there is a major price hike, the OnePlus Buds Z2 will be some of the cheapest noise-canceling TWS buds that money can buy. In fact, the first time we heard of the Z2 they were labeled a “lite” version of the $150 Buds Pro. If everything falls into place, these will offer sub-100 ms low latency mode too.
