Infinix GT 20 Pro arrives with Dimensity 8200 Ultimate, 144Hz screen, and customizable LEDs
Infinix launched the GT 10 Pro last August as its first gaming smartphone. And today, as expected, the brand unveiled the Infinix GT 20 Pro as the GT 10 Pro"s successor at a global launch event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Infinix GT 20 Pro has the Dimensity 8200 Ultimate at the helm, paired with 8GB/12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage onboard. It runs XOS 14 out of the box, and Infinix has promised two Android version upgrades and three years of security updates for the smartphone.
The Infinix GT 20 Pro also has a Pixelworks X5 Turbo dedicated gaming display chip under the hood, making it the brand"s first dual-chip smartphone. The chip employs Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation (MEMC) game frame rate interpolation to boost the frame rates from 60 FPS to up to 120 FPS for a smooth gaming experience. It can also improve the picture quality.
Additionally, the Infinix GT 20 Pro uses a stable frame-rate engine to provide a stable frame-rate when gaming. The brand claims the smartphone can achieve a native frame rate of up to 120 FPS with "ultra-stable operation" for one hour.
Infinix said that Free Fire, Call Of Duty (COD), and PlayerUnknown"s Battlegrounds (PUBG) can reach up to 90 FPS, while Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Genshin Impact, and Honkai: Star Rail can reach up to 120 FPS.
The Infinix GT 20 Pro also comes with an Esports Mode tailored for professional esports scenarios and advertised to elevate the GT 20 Pro"s performance to match that of a gaming console. And to keep the phone cool, there"s a VC liquid cooling system onboard that"s 73% larger (presumably compared to the previous gen), while the primary heat source area for targeted cooling now has more than 66% thermal conductivity. The GT 20 Pro also features a Phase Change Material (PCM) sheet that"s 68% larger.
Being a gaming smartphone, the Infinix GT 20 Pro also flaunts a design to appeal to gamers. It comes with a Cyber Mecha Design with a turbine blade pattern, focusing on Metal, Power, and Speed.
It also features a Mecha Loop LED interface, meaning the phone"s rear panel sports customizable RGB LEDs supporting eight color combos and four lighting effects. The game lighting effects support three games: PUBG for aiming, firing, and driving (not supported in India); MLBB for first kill, solo kill, and multi-kill (only supported in India); and Free Fire for aiming and intense fighting (supported in all regions).
The lighting effects can also be customized for incoming calls, notifications, charging, and music playback. Moreover, the GT 20 Pro has an X-axis linear vibration motor for improved haptic feedback.
A smartphone is not just about gaming, so let"s talk about other features of the Infinix GT 20 Pro. The phone is built around a 6.78" 144Hz FullHD+ LTPS AMOLED display with 1,300 nits peak brightness and a centered punch-hole for the 32MP selfie camera. Around the back, it has a 108MP primary camera (Samsung HM6 with OIS), joined by two 2MP units (presumably depth and macro).
Fueling the entire package is a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W charging support. The rest of the Infinix GT 20 Pro"s highlights include 5G connectivity, USB-C, NFC, and an in-display fingerprint reader. The smartphone also features dual speakers tuned by JBL and supports DTS and Hi-Res Audio.
