Humane Ai Pin discontinued, HP to take over IP and patents
HP is acquiring Humane for $116 million. The deal will include Humaneâs CosmOS AI platform, onboarding Humane technical staff, and access to over 300 patents and patent applications. The more important outcome from this deal is that Humaneâs Ai Pin will be discontinued next week.
As per an official support page, Humane Ai Pins will no longer connect to its servers after 12 PM PST on Friday, February 28 and the devices will lose out on most of their functionality. Humane will drop calling, messaging, and Ai queries/responses alongside the cloud access.
Ai Pin owners are encouraged to back up all of their data and anything stored on the .Center platform before next weekâs big switch-off. Humane did confirm it will permanently delete user data stored on its servers after 12 PM PST, February 28.
Humaneâs subscription service, which gave users data coverage via T-Mobile, will be automatically canceled after February 28. Humane also confirmed it will offer refunds to Ai Pins purchased within the 90-day return window from the original shipment date. Buyers have until February 27 to file for a refund.
HP confirmed its plans to incorporate Humaneâs CosmOS platform across its devices from PCs, printers and connected conference rooms. HP also plans to incorporate Humaneâs engineers, architects, and product innovators to its AI innovation lab for future projects and services.
