Honor X30 debuts with SD 695, Play 30 Plus has Dimensity 700
Back in October, Honor unveiled its first two X30 series phones with the X30i and X30 Max and today we get the rest of the lineup with the vanilla X30 model and a new entry in the Play series - Honor Play 30 Plus. Both new phones offer midrange specs, 5G connectivity and aggressive pricing.
Honor X30
The X30 is the more capable device out of the two, coming with Qualcommâs 6nm Snapdragon 695 and a 1080 x 2388-pixel 6.8-inch IPS LCD refreshing at 120Hz. Another marquee feature is the 66W charging capability which should be able to fill the phoneâs 4,800mAh battery from 0 to 80% in 30 minutes.
Elsewhere you get a 48MP main camera around the back alongside a 2MP macro cam and a 2MP depth helper. The camera ring design is clearly inspired by the Honor Magic 3 series. Thereâs a tiny punch hole cutout centered below the earpiece housing the 16MP selfie shooter.
The phone boots Honorâs Magic UI 5.0 on top of Android 11 and is available in four colors - black, silver, gold and blue. RAM varies from 6-12GB while storage comes in at 128GB or 256GB.
Honor X30 costs CNY1,499 ($235) for its baseline 6/128GB configuration and goes up to CNY 2,299 ($361) for the 12/256GB trim. Official sales in China start on December 24. Honor has not disclosed any details in terms of international availability at this point.
Honor Play 30 Plus
With Honor Play 30 Plus you get more toned down specs like a 6.7-inch LCD with an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate alongside MediaTekâs Dimensity 700 chip. The camera department is less impressive too, despite the two large circular cutouts you only get a 13MP main shooter and a 2MP depth helper. The selfie cam comes in at a mere 5MP and is housed in a teardrop notch.
One area where the Play 30 Plus excels is its battery capacity with its 5,000 mAh cell. Charging is capped at 22.5W speeds. The software front is also covered by Magic UI 5.0 on top of Android 11 like the X30. You get the same four color options here too.
Honor Play 30 Plus starts at CNY 1,099 ($173) for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage trim and maxes out at 8GB RAM and 128GB storage which will set you back CNY1,499 ($235). Open sales in China are scheduled for December 31.
