Honor Pad 8 in for review

Fresh off its IFA 2022 unveiling for the European market, we have the Honor Pad 8 with us for a quick hands-on and run over its key features. Despite the Pad 8 naming, the tablet features a large 12-inch IPS LCD screen with 1200 x 2000-pixel resolution and a 5:3 aspect ratio. This makes the Pad 8 a great device for multi-media consumption and multitasking. It does feel weird using the tablet in portrait mode given the weird aspect ratio.

Our review unit comes in the Blue colorway which is dark shade that attracts plenty of fingerprints. There’s a pair of speakers on each side of the display and a USB-C cable for charging and data transfers. The top half has the power and volume buttons. The retail box brings a 22.5W charger and USB-A to USB-C cable. Honor is also offering an optional keyboard accessory which should help with productivity tasks.

Tablet experience

Pad 8 has a premium look and feel with its sleek aluminum build. It’s also quite thin at 6.9mm and weighs only 520 grams. The software interface is covered by Magic UI 6.1 based on Android 12. There are some neat multitasking features including a quick toggle app drawer with floating windows. The dock can also hold up to four recently used apps. You can also mirror a compatible Honor smartphone on the tablet.
