Huawei's Kirin 820 5G outperforms Snapdragon 855 and Kirin 980

The Kirin 820 5G has been popping up on our news feed for the last couple of weeks and we even had a pretty comprehensive report regarding the platform's details. Now, we have some insight into the performance as well.

Based on its Geekbench 4 scores, the Kirin 820 5G can outperform the Snapdragon 855 in a single-core tests. It also beats the Kirin 980 in both single-thread and multi-thread performance.

Perhaps, this is due to the main Cortex-A76 cores being clocked higher. Not to mention that this mid-range chip largely benefits from the energy-efficient 7nm process, much like this year's and last year's flagship SoCs.

It's believed that the chipset will also boast improved ISP and NPU, at least compared to the Kirin 810, and ARM's brand new G77 GPU with impressive 120 to 140% jump in performance per mm² compared to the G76.

We expect the chip to debut on the Honor 30S on March 30.
