Weekly poll results: the Huawei Mate X6 has two major issues and neither are Huawei's fault
We’re back to our regularly scheduled programming and it’s time to find out how the Huawei Mate X6 fared in the polls. Well, the results are in and they are a mix of good and bad. The sad thing is that the negatives aren’t all Huawei’s fault.
The Huawei Mate X6 has great hardware, better than most horizontal foldables out there. However, Huawei is cut off from the Google Play ecosystem – that means that the X6 is not a viable option for many outside of China. Some might go for the de-Googled lifestyle, tempted by the excellent hardware. Mostly excellent.
Google services are not the only thing out of reach for Huawei, the company also can’t buy the cutting-edge chipsets of today. This holds back the phone’s performance.
There are also other factors to consider – modern flagship foldables are pricey and the X6 carries a €2,000 price tag, which is enough to scare off many would-be buyers on its own.
We published our Huawei Mate X6 review a few days ago. The phone impressed with its slender, high-quality frame, excellent cameras and great screen. However, we came to the same conclusion – app store and chipset limitations make the high price hard to justify.
