Garmin Nuvifone
It seems that mobile phones manufacturing is becoming increasingly trendy. Yet another company is entering the demanding market-share race. Garmin, one of the worlds leading GPS manufacturers announced their Garmin Nuvifone their first attempt at mobile phone production.
The Garmin Nuvifone is entirely touch-controlled and offers some very nice features. The main focus is of course the built-in GPS and GPS navigation software. The software is the same as the one of the leading stand-alone GPS navigation systems on the market GPS Nuvi. According to Garmin the Google local search is also seamlessly implemented to allow quick searching of points of interest near your current location.
Apart from that the Garmin Nuvifone will also sport 3G with HSDPA capabilities and a camera with video recording capabilities and geo-tagging. We have no info at this stage of the megapixel count but we will see about that at the Mobile World Congress in two weeks time.
Other niceties of the Nuvifone include music and video player, web browser, audio book reader and a nice organizer. The user interface also strongly resembles the Nuvi series and we are therefore tempted to guess that the phone will be very pleasant to work with.
Yet there is no information about the pricing of the Nuvifone but the expected release date is somewhere in the third quarter of 2008.
