Fairphone's TWS Fairbuds promise premium sound quality and easy repairability
Wireless earbuds have made great strides in the past few years but battery degradation is still their Achilles heel and will render them disposable after a certain time. Fairphone is out to change that with its new Fairbuds wireless earbuds. Fairphone’s second foray into the in-ear TWS earbud market will offer the signature modular design with a focus on easy repairability.
Fairphone will offer replacement parts for the earbud battery and silicon ring covering the battery compartment charging case battery as well as the charging case core and shell. Users can easily replace key parts on the Fairbuds thanks to their modular design and will only need a Phillips #00 screwdriver and a prying tool. The only remaining question is how much these replacement parts will cost.
Like all Fairphone products, Fairbuds are made with fair and recycled materials and electronic waste neutral.
The rest of the specs include titanium-coated 11mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and multi-point pairing to two devices. Fairbuds feature wear sensors for automatic play and pause and capacitive touch controls which include volume adjustments. They also get active noise cancelation (ANC) and Environmental Noise Canceling (ENC) for calls by way of their six microphones with three on each earbud.
Fairbuds come with 45 mAh batteries inside each earbud and a 500 mAh cell on the charging case. Battery life on the earbuds is rated at 6 hours while the case adds another 20 hours. The earbuds also feature an IP54 rating and work with Fairbuds Android and iOS Fairbuds companion app with customizable EQ controls and remapping.
Fairphone Fairbuds come in black and white colors with a three-year warranty. Pricing is set at €149/£140.
