BlackBerry Bold 9780 official, it runs OS 6 and has 5MP camera
The new bold went official - and it continues in the tradition of previous Bolds but with improved specs. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has double the RAM, runs the new OS and packs a 5 megapixel camera.
The outside of the BlackBerry Bold 9780 has hardly changed since the Bold 9700. Most of the new stuff is under the hood. The RAM has been doubled to 512MB RAM to accommodate the new BlackBerry OS 6. The camera went up to 5MP and features autofocus, flash, scene modes and image stabilization.
The dimensions of the Bold 9780 are the same as the 9700 measurements and despite running a new OS, it has the most impressive quoted standby and talk times of the Bold lineup.
Speaking of the new OS, it brings an updated UI, a WebKit-based browser and revamped Music and Pictures apps. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 supports Wi-Fi calling (UMA) where offered by the carrier and can tune into RSS feeds, BlackBerry messenger, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace plus YouTube.
The BlackBerry Bold 9780 will be available November on several carriers though RIM was specific only about T-Mobile USA - there the 9780 will launch on November 17 for 129 US dollars. Since Vodafone Netherlands and Orange UK jumped the gun on the new Bold last week, we're guessing they are the most likely suspects to get it next.
