Apple’s ‘AirPods’ may use proprietary “Bluetooth-like” connection
The Apple iPhone 7s launch is less than 24 hours away and the rumors continue to churn, right on schedule. According an Apple Insider source, Apple will likely have its own-designed Bluetooth-like communication chip and launch own-brand Bluetooth headphones targeting the high-end market, with Beats positioned in the midrange market, Kuo, analyst connected with KGI securities.
Apple is believed to be launching its own Airpods (if the name is to be used this way) alongside the Apple iPhone 7 and it is supposed to feature a new proprietary Bluetooth-like communication chip. If this is the kind of structure that Apple is going for, it would not be possible to use these new Airpods on any other device except Apple devices.
If Apple is indeed building these Airpods, we should not expect that they will be bundled with the new iPhone. Rather, we should expect to see these Airpods as a separate accessory with a separate price tag. Still, the iPhone 7 should be included with Lightning-connected earbuds, as per leaked packaging.
The iPhone 7 will be announced officially on September 7 at 10AM Pacific Time.
What do you think about Apple's Airpods? Do you think this is something Apple is really going to do? How much do you think Apple is going to charge for a pair of these?
