All future OnePlus phones will come with Fluid Displays
The new OnePlus 7T is the company’s second phone with a Fluid Display – and it very much won’t be the last. In fact, co-founder Carl Pei announced that all future OnePlus phones will come with a Fluid Display.
The main feature of the panel is the 90Hz refresh rate, but that’s not all. OnePlus also optimized the hardware and software so that it responds to touches up to 38% faster than typical Android phones.
The company also worked with Qualcomm to make sure the hardware is ready for the jump to a higher refresh rate. The system detects when it needs more performance and dials up the CPU cores to make sure the UI remains smooth.
You can watch Pei talk about the display in the recorded livestream (we’ve cued it up, the relevant bit starts at 15:18).
The Fluid Display on the OnePlus 7T is an AMOLED with HDR10+ support and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. This one is a 1080p+ panel, the OnePlus 7 Pro is a QHD+ panel - like Apple"s Retina, the definition of "Fluid Display" will shift over time and between devices.
