8-core Snapdragon X Plus leaks ahead of IFA debut

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X-series chipsets come in two varieties – the X Plus lineup which features a 10-core Oryon CPU and the X Elite which comes in 12-core configurations. A new leak from Evan Blass confirms the key specs of the 8-core X Plus version due to launch on laptops announced at IFA Berlin. This will be a slightly cut-down version of the regular X Plus chip featuring an 8-core Oryon CPU and will ship on CoPilot+ notebooks starting at $800.

Based on earlier reports, the new chip will offer 3.4GHz single-core boost and 3.2GHz multi-core boost. Apart from the lowered CPU core count and clock speeds, the new X Plus chip will also feature a cutdown Adreno GPU rated at 1.7 TFLOPS (instead of 3.8 TFLOPS), LPDDR5X RAM with 30MB total cache (compared to 42MB on the X Plus), and support for triple external monitors at UHD resolution and 60Hz (instead of 4K 120Hz).

It will also retain the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPS as well as the Always-Sensing ISP, Wi-Fi 7, and 5G support.
