Kuo: Huawei P70 series to bring revamped camera, new chipset in pursuit of tripled sales
Huawei is expected to introduce the P70, P70 Pro, and P70 Pro Art flagships in 2024, reveals Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities. According to him, the launch will be in the first half of the year, and the demand for these phones will be so high Huawei is likely to sell three times more units than the P60 lineup managed.
Huawei P60 ProThe analyst claimed Huawei should see a robust yearly growth of about 230%, up to 15 million units of the P70 flagship series, compared with the 4-5 million Huawei P60 devices. Even if demand is not as high as expected after the launch, the company is expected to sell at least 10-12 million units.
The increase will also boost Largan and Sunny Optical, high-end lens makers and Huawei suppliers. They are expected to see a “significant shipment growth” during the off-season, as the Chinese maker aims to return to market shelves worldwide with better-than-ever camera specifications.
Huawei P50 Pro vs P40 ProThe Huawei P70 is said to bring a 5P lens and a 1/3.6” telephoto sensor, while the P70 Pro duo will have a 6P zoom lens with a 1/2.5” sensor behind.
The Art version will stand above those two as Huawei is planning to use a 1G6P lens (one glass and six plastic layers) and a 1”-type sensor for the ultra-wide-angle camera. It will be extremely expensive to manufacture, as the molding glass is harder to make than a regular 7P lens, and this is where Largan and Sunny Optical will get the big bucks.
Huawei P40 Pro & P40 Pro+Huawei bringing a new camera onto the global market is likely to make other makers follow with similar solutions, especially if the Huawei P70 series is welcomed on the global scene. The phones are also to come with new Kirin chipsets with 5G connectivity, which was one of the main issues why Huawei flagships failed to take off in the past three years.
