Weekly poll results: the Realme 10 fails to impress
Realme started as a company focused on value-for-money phones and expanded from there. That means that handsets like the Realme 10 should be its bread and butter, but people in last week’s poll were not impressed. The phone costs too much for what it offers. Or offers too little for how much it costs. Either way, tech enthusiasts on a budget will largely be passing on this one.
Some of those that are on a tight budget say they will pick up a second hand phone instead – something older that still holds up. Others are looking at alternative offerings from Poco, Samsung, Motorola and others and like what they see better.
No 5G really holds the phone back, especially now that the Realme 10 5G is official. 5G coverage is rapidly expanding and 4G phones will increasingly become relegated to the entry level. Except €250 is not an entry-level price.
Also, why cut the ultrawide camera – the Realme 9 had one. For this generation Realme chose chipset performance over camera quality, but few in the comments were impressed by the Helio G99. It’s a decent chip, but at this price it encroaches on Dimensity territory.
In the end, the Realme 10 edged out its predecessor, which does have an ultrawide cam (and a 108MP main). However, the 10 is still quite unpopular among the tech-savvy crowd. As for the Realme 10 5G, that one is yet to make its way out of China, so a head-to-head battle will have to wait.
