Tipster: the OnePlus Open is coming next month
Early rumors about the OnePlus Open suggested a late August announcement. Then came the bad news – issues with the chosen screen supplier (BOE) led to delays (and a switch to Samsung panels). We’ve been waiting a long time for OnePlus’ first-ever foldable and we might have to wait some more. All of these reports came from Max Jambor, who really has his finger on the pulse of OnePlus.
The tipster now shares a new date for the unveiling of the Open – October 19th. That’s a month away from today and nearly two months after the original (but never officially confirmed) target. And it"s a bit later than the (still unofficial) revised target of late September/early October.
OnePlus execs attended the TechCrunch Disrupt 2023 event and confirmed that the company’s first foldable will launch “soon”. More on that here. No concrete date was given, no spec details either, but wee should start seeing things on OnePlus.com and the company’s forum and socials soon.

The hardware for the OnePlus Open will be based on the Oppo Find N3 and these two will likely divvy up the world map – the Open goes global, the Find N3 stays in China (like the Find N2). We haven’t heard anything concrete on when Oppo will introduce the Find N3, but it should happen at or around the same time as the Open.
With OnePlus’ global reach, including key markets like India and especially the US, competition will heat up. The only foldable rival that Samsung has in the US is Motorola and it’s really only the Galaxy Z Flip that gets challenged – horizontal foldables are very rare on the global market.
For specs on the OnePlus Open/Oppo Find N3 check out this post, which has some details from Digital Chat Station. The key numbers are 7.82” inner and 6.31” outer display (the latter with a standard 20:9 aspect ratio).
