Motorola G54 introduced
The Motorola Moto G54 is official and ready to ship in China and India, but the two markets get slightly different versions of the phone.
The key components are shared though, starting with the 6nm Dimensity 7020 chipset packaged with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Upfront, there"s a 6.5-inch 1080x2400px IPS LCD of 120Hz refreh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate.
A 50MP main camera is on the back. There"s a 16MP sensor on the opposite end.
The China-bound Moto G54 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging, which is where the versions start to differ. It measures 8.04mm thick and weighs 179.7 grams. The secondary camera on the back is a mere 2MP depth helper.
The finish on the back is also different. In China the phone comes draped in three Vegan Leather options - Blue, Green, and Magenta. You can order the Moto G54 there right now and it will ship today, priced at CNY 1,099 (€140, converted).
The Indian Moto G54 has a larger 6,000mAh battery - that"s around 16% extra capacity. It"s also faster to charge with a pre-bundled 33W brick in the box.
The Moto G54 for India packs a higher-end 12/256GB configuration to go along with the 8/128GB. The G54 premiers the Dimensity 7020 chipset to the Indian market.
This G54 is also thicker at 8.89mm, and heavier at 192 grams. It features a "glass-like" plastic finish on its three colorways - Mint Green, Midnight Blue, and Pearl Blue.
Indian buyers also get better cameras - the 50MP main camera sits next to an 8MP ultrawide unit with autofocus.
Motorola says the Moto G54 will eventually be updated to Android 14 and will get 3 years of security updates.
The Moto G54 will go on sale in 8/128GB and 12/256GB and in three colors - Mint Green, Pearl Blue, and Midnight Blue - from tomorrow September 6. Pricing should be confirmed shortly.
