Sony Xperia Ace 2 unveiled in Japan, brings 5.5-inch screen and Helio P35 chipset
The past few weeks saw a few Sony Xperia Ace 2 leaks and now the device has officially been announced in Japan. Sony’s tiniest smartphone in recent memory sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 6 protection upfront. The exact dimensions come in at 140 x 69 x 8.9mm while weight is set at 159 grams.

The Xperia Ace 2 is a 4G LTE device powered by the well-known Helio P35 chipset. You get 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which is expandable via microSD. True to Sony traditions, the Ace 2 packs IP68 water and dust proofing and a headphones jack. The back sports a 13MP primary camera which is joined by a 2MP depth sensor. The front-facing selfie shooter comes in at 8MP. You also get a fingerprint sensor on the side which also doubles as the power button.

While compact in stature, Xperia Ace 2 packs a 4,500 mAh battery which combined with the power-efficient chipset and small screen should result in ample battery life. Retail in Japan is set at JPY 22,000 ($202) with first sales there scheduled for May 28. Color options include black, white and blue.
