Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25+ to opt for Sony camera sensor

2023-12-04

Samsung introduced its ISOCELL GN5 50MP sensor with the Galaxy S22 and S22+ phones and used a similar 50MP GN3 sensor on this year’s Galaxy S23 and S23+ models. That same 50MP sensor is also expected to be re-used on the Galaxy S24 and S24+ devices but a new tip suggests that the Galaxy S25 and S25+ phones may ditch the Samsung sensors in favor of Sony ones.

Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25+ rumored to opt for Sony camera sensor

The new report comes from reliable tipster @Tech_Reve who holds a solid track record for Samsung rumors. There are no specific details on the actual camera sensor in question given that we are more than a year away from the S25 series’ launch.

Samsung is also rumored to be working on a new 200MP 1-inch ISOCELL sensor for its S25 Ultra with 0.8µm pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, and in-sensor crop zoom. The only other known rumor for the Galaxy S25 series is the Exynos 2500 chipset which is expected to feature a 10-core CPU fabbed on Samsung’s 3nm node.
