Oppo announces the Oppo K10 5G and the K10 Pro in China
Oppo released the vanilla K10 last month and is now introducing the upper-tier K10 5G and the K10 Pro. Both handsets just debuted in China and there"s no word on international availability yet.
Oppo K10 Pro
The Pro version of the phone is built around a 6.62-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and is advertised to reach 800 nits and even 1,300 nits peak brightness in some scenarios like watching HDR content, for example. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
The handset is powered by the Snapdragon 888 from last year paired with either 8GB or 12GB RAM. The former option comes with 128GB and 256GB internal storage, while the latter is only available with 256GB.
Despite its powerful, flagship-grade hardware, the camera setup is somewhat basic. The main one is 50MP, f/1.8 and OIS and it"s joined by the familiar 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide unit. The third camera on the back is 2MP used for macro shots, whereas the front houses a 16MP f/2.4 shooter.
The whole system relies on a 5,000 mAh battery that can charge over the company"s 80W SuperVOOC protocol, capable of topping off the cell from flat in just 31 minutes.
Other notable features include Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers and a flagship-grade X-axis haptic engine that offers a mechanical-like tactile feedback when typing on the keyboard. The sensation of mechanical clicks has been co-developed with Razer.
Oppo K10 5G
Of course, the K10 5G is a more affordable option, which in turn sits above the vanilla K10 introduced last month. The K10 5G swaps out the Snapdragon 888 SoC for the MediaTek-made Dimensity 8000 Max and offers the same memory options as the K10 Pro.
The display"s size is almost the same - 6.59" but settles for an LCD screen instead of OLED. Refresh rate is still 120Hz and the advertised maximum brightness is 600 nits. Additionally, the panel is protected by Panda Glass and not Gorilla Glass.
The camera setup on the back consists of a 64MP f/1.8 main unit, the same 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera and the usual 2MP macro snapper. The front copies the 16MP selfie from the Pro but opens up the aperture to f/2.1.
The same 5,000 mAh cell powers it all with support for 67W SuperVOOC fast charging. Interestingly enough, the K10 5G also boasts Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers and the X-axis haptic motor tuned by Razer.
The two handsets are offered in Black and Blue colors, but they are slightly different from one another. The standard K10 5G starts at CNY 1,999 (~$310), while the Pro option sells for CNY 2,499 (~$385)
