Oppo and OnePlus officially decline rumors about leaving Europe
Yesterday rumors started doing the rounds, suggesting Oppo and OnePlus are exiting key European markets, including the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and France.
OnePlus representatives quickly declined the rumor, later followed by Oppo, both issuing official statements about their companies’ dedication to the European markets.
OnePlus Global PR Manager James Patterson told Tech Advisor:
OnePlus will not exit from Europe and the UK and maintains stable operations in local markets. OnePlus will continue to invest in Europe and provide more innovative product and solutions to its users.
Oppo spokesperson stated via email the company has big plans for 2023 and is committed to all existing European markets.
We had a great start in 2023 with the successful launches of several products in Europe and have a line-up of upcoming products for the rest of the year. As always, Oppo will continue to provide more innovative products and the best-in-class service for users moving forward.
The wording on this one is rather puzzling, as Oppo only speaks of its plans for this year, rather than declaring its long-term commitments to Europe. Or we could be reading too much into it - we should know the truth soon enough.
OnePlus recently launched its OnePlus 11 flagship, which is a well-rounded phone with little to complain about. The Oppo Find X6 Pro was announced last week with “three main cameras” but is not escaping China, leaving the Find N2 Flip as the only flagship-tier Oppo smartphone in Europe.
