You'll need to join a waitlist to use Apple Intelligence features
Apple announced its grand AI vision yesterday, called Apple Intelligence (because its initials are also "AI", how clever, get it?). And the features were promised to arrive at some point in the future, without anything less vague. Some are now expecting Apple Intelligence to debut in July with the first public beta of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. One thing's for sure - no AI is to be seen in the first developer beta, which went out today.
And when the Apple Intelligence features do finally arrive, not everyone may get access to them, as it turns out. We're not talking about the fact that only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be compatible - that's a limitation imposed by Apple on the hardware side. But there will also apparently be a waitlist.
Yes, a waitlist. One you'll have to join and hope Apple will grant you access to the Apple Intelligence features, as part of what will initially be dubbed a "limited preview". This information has been dug up in iOS 18 code, where there are clear mentions of a waitlist and the words "limited preview".
So get ready to act fast, as they say, otherwise you may not have any access to Apple Intelligence for who knows how long, even if you are running iOS 18 on one of the two supported iPhones.
