Xiaomi Pad 5 is getting the Android 12 and MIUI 13.1 update globally
Xiaomi Pad 5 units of the European and global varieties are lined up to get the update to Android 12 – this is starting with a small number of users and will expand gradually. There is a manual way to update too, for the most impatient.
The Pad 5 launched last year with Android 11 and MIUI 12.5. The new update will bring it up to Android 12 and MIUI 13.1 and also includes the latest September security patch. The versions to look out for are 13.1.1.0.SKXMIXM if you have a global unit and 13.1.2.0.SKXEUXM for European slates. The Indian version launched this year and had MIUI 13 out of the box.

The changelog is rather terse, it just notes the new Android version and security patch. MIUI 13 introduces new widgets, improves security and smart home integration, spruces up the design and more. One major update in version 13 was the introduction of a “MIUI Pad” branch, which is specifically designed for large screens.
By the way, the Pad 5 is only one of over two dozen Xiaomi devices set to receive MIUI 13 in Q1.
We have a review of the Xiaomi Pad 5 if you’re interested (though note that it was done running the original MIUI 12.5 software), as well as a video comparison with the iPad (2021).
One last thing – as we mentioned, there is a manual way to update. You can follow the Source link for download and instructions (note that only the global ROM is available for download at the time of writing). Installation is done using the Updater app.
