Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro comes with Snapdragon 855+, 45W charger in the box

Xiaomi just unveiled Mi 9 Pro, building on the successful Mi 9 formula with a new chipset and much faster charging. The phone is now powered by the latest Snapdragon 855+ with up to 12GB of RAM.

You get the same 6.39” OLED panel with a built-in fingerprint scanner, the same triple camera setup with 48MP main module, but also plenty of upgrades.

Lei Jun, the Xiaomi CEO, was talking all the time about the Mi 9 Pro 5G, but he never mentioned a variant without the next-gen network, raising questions whether such an option would exist at all.

Xiaomi introduced both a bigger battery (4,000 mAh) and an improved fast charging, compared with the Mi 9 - it supports up to 45W wired (with the appropriate charging included in the box), while wireless is now 30W. The latter was achieved thanks to a special Xiaomi wireless pad with a new architecture of the wiring and additional cooling.

The Mi 9 Pro also bring reverse charging with up to 10W speeds - a first for the Chinese company.

Another upgrade is the new speaker, which has the largest sound chamber of any Mi phone to date and should be louder and better sounding than any of its predecessors.

The phone will start from CNY3,699 ($520/€473) and go as high as CNY4,299 ($605/€550) and will be available in 8/128 GB, 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB, and 12/512 GB variants. It will be offered in Dream White and Titanium Black color options.
