Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro come with Wi-Fi connectivity, Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025) ups performance

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra launch was certainly the highlight of today’s Xiaomi event, but the company is also bringing exciting new TWS buds and a powerful 16” laptop that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro
Typical wireless headphones use Bluetooth – and the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro can do that too, going up to 2.1Mbps thanks to the Snapdragon S7+ audio platform. That’s enough for 48kHz/24-bit lossless audio.
But when paired with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, these buds have a new trick up their sleeve – they can use Wi-Fi to boost the bitrate to 4.2Mbps, which is enough for 96kHz/24-bit lossless audio.
Wi-Fi connectivity • Head tracking • Pressure-sensitive stems
Using Wi-Fi has another benefit as it enables Qualcomm’s XPAN technology – eXpanded Personal Area Network. This can extend the range of the headphones to your whole home while keeping power consumption low. XPAN maintains support for high-bandwidth audio, low-latency and even features like immersive audio with head tracking. Note that the Wi-Fi functionality is available only on one version of the buds, the Phantom Black one, the other two colors can only do Bluetooth.
The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro feature dual DACs and dual amps that power two drivers. The frequency response is in the range 15Hz to 50kHz and the audio was tuned with the help of Harman’s Golden Ears team to have more detail in the mid and high frequencies.

With three microphones on board, these earbuds boast 55dB of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and can cancel out high wind speeds (up to 15m/s). They have double the noise reduction power compared to the Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro, according to the company.
Battery life is interesting – it’s up to 8 hours of continuous listening over Bluetooth but goes up to 10 hours over Wi-Fi. With the charging case, the total listening time is 40 hours. Both wired and wireless charging are supported.
The buds are rated IP54 for dust and water resistance. They support audio sharing (connecting two pairs of buds to one phone). The stems on the buds are both touch and pressure sensitive, so you can control volume by sliding your finger or squeeze them with two fingers (this action is customizable).
Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro colors: Titanium Gold • White • Phantom Black (Wi-Fi)
The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro are available now from Xiaomi’s store in China. The Bluetooth buds are CNY 1,300 ($180), while the version with Wi-Fi support is CNY 1,500 ($205).
Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025)
After refreshing the regular Redmi Book 14 and 16 last month, Xiaomi has now turned to the Pro laptop – the 16” variant, at least. Instead of a Core 5, the Pro is equipped with a second generation Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor with 96 TOPS of AI performance and Intel Arc graphics (though a Core Ultra 5 225H variant is also available).
The Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025) weighs 1.88kg and measures 15.9mm thick. This is with a large 99Wh battery (this is the biggest that you can bring on a plane). The battery can last up to 30 hours of usage. Charging is done with a 140W GaN adapter, by the way.

The laptop has an impressive 16” screen with 165Hz refresh rate, 16:10 aspect ratio (3,072 x 1,920px). It has 100% DCI-P3 coverage and is certified for DisplayHDR 400 (the peak brightness reaches 500 nits). Both Dolby Vision and Atmos are supported.

Going back to the Intel chip, it is fabbed on a TSMC N3B node. The Ultra 7 variant has 16 CPU cores (up to 5.1GHz) and 8 Xe graphics cores, plus 24 MB cache. Xiaomi says it is 21.6% faster overall than the 2024 Redmi Book Pro 16. The Ultra 5 variant has 14 CPU cores (4.9GHz), 7 Xe cores and 18MB cache. This one offers an even bigger 29.5% performance uplift over the 2024 Redmi Book Pro 16.
These are pretty powerful chips, so Xiaomi designed the laptop with two fans and three heat pipes that can dissipate up to 80W.
You can find the Redmi Book Pro 16 (2025) on Xiaomi’s online store in China. The Ultra 5 model (32GB RAM, 1TB storage) costs CNY 6,500 ($895), while the Ultra 7 variant (same 32GB RAM and 1TB storage) is CNY 7,500 ($1,030).
