Xiaomi 12 Pro, Pad 5 debut in India
Xiaomi hosted its second on-ground launch event of the year in India today, where it introduced the Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 5 to the Indian customers.
Xiaomi 12 Pro
The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes in two memory configurations in India - 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB, priced at INR62,999 ($820/â¬775) and INR66,999 ($875/â¬825), respectively. However, with discounts and introductory offers, you can get both models for up to INR10,000 ($130/â¬125) less. The Xiaomi 12 Pro will go on sale in India starting May 2 through Mi.com, Mi Home stores, Amazon.in, and other retail partners across the country.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and runs Android 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box. It sports a 6.73" 120Hz QHD+ LTPO 2.0 AMOLED screen, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. The panel also has a fingerprint reader underneath for biometric authentication and a punch hole in the center for the 32MP selfie camera.
Around the back, we get a triple camera system comprising 50MP primary, 50MP ultrawide, and 50MP telephoto units. Fueling the entire package is a 4,600 mAh battery with 120W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
The rest of the Xiaomi 12 Pro's highlights include quad speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, Dolby Atmos support, Hi-Res Audio certification, 5G connectivity, and an NFC chip.
Xiaomi Pad 5
The Xiaomi Pad 5 was unveiled last August, and it finally debuted in India with two memory options - 6GB/128GB and 6GB/256GB. The former is priced at INR26,999 ($350/â¬330) and the latter will cost you INR28,999 ($380/â¬360). However, both versions will be available for INR2,000 ($26/â¬24) less for a limited time, and you'll also get a discount of INR2,000 ($26/â¬24) if you buy the tablet using your HDFC Bank debit/credit card.
The Xiaomi Pad 5 will be available for purchase starting May 3 through Mi.com, Mi Home stores, Amazon.in, and other retail partners. Xiaomi also introduced the Smart Pen and Pad 5 Keyboard in India, but it hasn't revealed their prices yet.
Talking about the specs, the Xiaomi Pad 5 comes with the Snapdragon 860 chip, boots MIUI 13 for Pad, and packs an 11" QHD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate.
And since this is a tablet, we don't get a multi-camera setup like smartphones, but there's still a single 13MP camera on the Pad 5's rear and an 8MP unit on the front for selfies and video calls.
The Xiaomi Pad 5 also features quad speakers and has support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. It has an 8,720 mAh battery under the hood with 33W charging support, but the bundled adapter can only go up to 22.5W.
