Weekly poll results: Oppo Find X8 Pro preferred over the vanilla X8, availability is an issue
Last week’s poll shows that the Oppo Find X8 series has strong potential but also several hurdles to overcome in its fight with other recent flagships. Let’s start with the more popular model.
That is the Oppo Find X8 Pro, of course. Unless reviews uncover issues with this phone, it’s looking like a strong contender with half of voters expressing interest. There would be more, but the phone is a bit pricey (not surprising for a just-announced flagship).
Availability is an issue (for both the Pro and vanilla models). Older Find X models are not available in Europe, not in India either. The regional Oppo sites mostly show Reno phones. The Find X8 series is going international, but it will take a while (more on that in a bit).
Anyway, these two are likely not the only X8 models – there is an Oppo Find X8 Ultra on the way and rumor has it that it will have upgraded sensors. The camera sensors were a bit of a sore spot for the X8 Pro – why is it using a 1/1.4” LYT-808 when the Find X6 Pro had a 1” more than a year ago?
The vanilla Oppo Find X8 doesn’t even have that much, using a smaller 1/1.56” LYT-700 in its main camera. This model also has promise, but the vote split in this poll shows clearly just how popular the Pro model is.
Availability issues strike yet again, but in a different way this time – the Find X8 is missing support for 5G band 20, which is key in some regions. The Find X6 and X7 both had it (as does the Find X8 Pro), so that is a strange omission.
We did get some good news in the meantime - the Oppo Find X8 is going international soon with a launch in Indonesia scheduled for November. Oppo is even accepting registrations for the Find X8 series in the UK, though there are no prices yet.
