Two more Asus ROG Phone 7 variants surface on Geekbench, both with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
Last week marked the first sighting of the Asus ROG Phone 7 on Geekbench, possibly the 7D variant (judging by its module number ASUS_AI2205_D). Of course, the previous D model used a Dimensity chip, so this might be a different variant instead. And there is no shortage of variants, there are at least two more lurking in the Geekbench database.
Here are the AI2205_B and AI2205_C, presumably the Asus ROG Phone 7 and 7 Pro. Unconfirmed reports claim that the C version will be available in India.
Note that all three variants that we have seen so far, B, C and D, use the base version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the one with a 3.19GHz prime core. In the past the company has featured souped-up versions of Qualcommâs top chip, e.g. the ROG Phone 5 (and Pro) launched with the base Snapdragon 888 (2.84GHz), then came the ROG Phone 5s (and Pro), which ran the Snapdragon 888+ (2.99GHz).
There is a version of the 8 Gen 2 that runs its prime core at 3.36GHz, up from the 3.19GHz seen here, but that is exclusive to Samsung. We never found out whether this was a timed exclusive or not.
Anyway, all three variants featured 16GB of RAM, but knowing Asus, there should be at least an 18GB version too. This should be LPDDR5X RAM plus UFS 4.0 storage like weâve seen on other 8 Gen 2 flagships.
According to Gadgetsdata, the Asus ROG Phone 7 will have a 6.8â FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED display (with a built-in fingerprint reader), plus a 6,000mAh battery with 65W charging. That is pretty much what the 6-series model had too.
The Asus ROG Phone 6 series arrived in July of last year, so weâre at least a few months away from seeing the next-gen ROG phones.
