The Realme GT5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

President of Realme China Xu Qi Chase posted on Weibo that there are now over 30 smartphone models with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but he doesn’t believe that any of them have “really touched the performance limit”.

This comes up in relation to the Realme GT5, which has long been surrounded by rumors that it will use the 8 Gen 2 chip. Those rumors have effectively been confirmed. Leakster Digital Chat Station is less vague, he writes that the phone will pair the 8 Gen 2 with a whopping 24GB of RAM.

Only one phone currently has that much (Red Magic 8S Pro+) but more are on the way. This will be LPDDR5X RAM along with UFS 4.0 storage.

Realme boss teases that the GT5 will be a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powerhouse

The Realme GT5 is expected to have two versions, similar to the recent GT Neo 5. This means one with a 4,600mAh battery and bonkers 240W fast charging and a more restrained version with 5,000mAh capacity and “only” 150W charging.

The “GT5” name was officially confirmed way back and we’ve been hearing murmurs of a GT5 Pro with a periscope zoom camera (with a 64MP OV64B sensor). This is in addition to a 50MP main (IMX9-series 1/1.4” sensor) and an 8MP ultra wide. The display is said to be a 6.74” 1.5K AMOLED panel with 144Hz refresh rate (similar to the GT3).

That’s all unofficial info, of course, Realme’s official teasers should start checking off such details as we get closer to the GT5 launch later this month.
