Sony confirms PS5 price hike across several regions

2025-04-14

Sony is raising PlayStation 5 prices in Europe, Australia and New Zealand from today. Sony announced that it will raise its recommended retail price (RRP) due to the “challenging economic environment, high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates”. This marks the second price hike in PS5’s lifespan, following the one from 2022.

Sony also confirmed that select markets in the EMEA region may get price increases and it’s only logical to see hikes across other key markets like the US.

The regular PS5 Digital Edition will now start at €499.99/£429.99 in Europe, compared to the previous €449.99/£389.99 asking price. Buyers in Australia will have to spend more on the PS5 with optical disc drive, which will now start at AUD 829.95 and NZD 949.95, respectively. The digital edition PS5 will not get price hikes there. Sony also confirmed that the PS5 Pro’s retail price will remain unchanged.
