Smallest upcoming phone from Apple to be called iPhone 12 ‘mini’
Appleâs iPhone 12 lineup is coming, and itâs expected to arrive sometime in October. A new leaker claims that the upcoming entry-level 5.4-inch iPhone will be called the âiPhone 12 miniâ. The leaker also claims the phone that was initially thought to be called the âiPhone 12 Maxâ will be called just âiPhone 12â.
With four new iPhones expected to arrive this year, Apple will have to come up with at least one new name for the lineup. Apple has used âmini in both the iPad and Mac computer lineups â and how can we forget about the iPod mini from â04 and â05? The larger two iPhones will likely keep the âProâ and âPro Maxâ suffixes (with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, allegedly) that have been used in with the iPhone 11 lineup.
Appleâs new iPhones are coming with 5G support and powered by the companyâs first chipset on the 5nm process: the A14. According to early benchmarks of the chipset, it seems that performance gains are incremental, but should yield better battery performance.
As per previous reports â all new iPhones will arrive with 60Hz refresh rate OLED screens, and will come with smaller notches that will allow for more status icons to fit at the top. As hinted by the incoming Apple Watch Series 5, the new iPhone lineup may not include any charging or EarPods accessories in the box â which Apple claims is supposed to cut down on electronic waste.
